Establishment of Early Warning System along with Communication Network

This scope of the work included the following components.

  1. 77 x Tsunami Warning Towers established in the coastal line around the country.
  2. Satellite Network to connect the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) with District Disaster Management Units (DDMUs) in 25 districts. This network includes satellite hub station and 25 x VSAT units.
  3. HF and VHF radio communication network. HF network was mostly designed to send data at an emergency, while dedicated VHF network was installed to cover the whole island. This network provides communication to 77 Tsunami warning towers other than the day-to-day operational requirements of DDMCUs.
