What we Do

Traffic Counters & Classifiers

A traffic counter and classifier is a device that counts and categorizes vehicles passing through a specific location on a roadway. It is commonly used to collect traffic data for traffic engineering, planning, and management purposes.

Gilat also provided another satellite network to the meteorological department for the weather monitoring network which has 38 Automatic Weather stations.

The traffic counter and classifier record the number of vehicles passing through the location over a specified period of time, usually in hourly or daily increments. It also records additional data such as the speed, length, and classification of the vehicles, based on the number of axles and the distance between them.

The classification of vehicles can be customized based on the needs of the user and may include categories such as cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles, and bicycles. The data collected by the traffic counter and classifier can be used to analyze traffic patterns, estimate traffic volumes, and identify trends in traffic flow for different vehicle types.

This information is useful for transportation planners, traffic engineers, and government agencies responsible for maintaining and improving the safety and efficiency of road networks, as it can help them make informed decisions about roadway design, traffic management strategies, and infrastructure improvements.
